Book Summary: Full Speed Conditioning – Written by Ross Enamait

Guns and Roses, Metallica, Van Halen, and Kiss are all hardcore rock and roll music bands. They signify high energy and intensity. I need to tell you that Ross is the same way in his exercise philosophy.

This series of books and DVDs is amazing. Ross must be a little crazy with the way he works. This guy defines the concept of “Work Ethic” in this educational series.

Why is this important to me?

I always want to make sure that when you create a video, it’s worth it from your point of view. This program is vitally important if you want to up your fitness game and get in great shape. You can use some of these tools as a beginner, but you’ll find Ross’s stuff ramping up quickly.

Also, if you want to maximize stamina and energy, this is the program for you. Ross is an expert in combat sports training and understands what it takes to train effectively to win.

Whether you’re a boxer, MMA fighter, or wrestler, this program will help you develop your intestinal system for peak performance. The well-conditioned athlete will outperform the more talented athlete in subsequent rounds, EVERY time.

There’s a lot of great stuff on this show and I’m going to outline some high points and show a couple of clips of Ross himself doing stuff.

1.3 Energy Systems: Ross discusses in detail the aerobic, ATP-PC, and glycogen energy systems. He uses the research and goes into detail about how these systems work. Simply put, he has three energy systems consisting of two anaerobic and one aerobic. The goal of this type of exercise is to increase net work output and maximize all three energy systems to do it. If you are a fan of boxing or MMA, you may have noticed that at the beginning of fights, combat athletes have more power in their punches than they do later in the fight. This has to do with the anaerobic system breaking down and losing energy. Ross shows you how you can increase your anaerobic work capacity by using aerobic rest periods to increase your total work output. This is great. Two of the greatest boxers: Manny Pacquiao and Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather have incredible stamina and energy and that is why they have been champions for so long.

2. Interval Training: Interval training is the best way to improve your aerobic and anaerobic energy systems. Research shows that intense, intermittent training offers the best of both worlds. Side note: if you want to lose weight/fat, then this type of exercise will melt you. Interval training provides a mechanism to burn calories throughout the day. Research shows that speed training, interval work, and other forms of intensity help your body burn calories ALL DAY. This secret is the key to melting fat. You can run long distances and that exercise will burn more calories DURING THE TRAINING. It’s the rest of the day that counts if you want to burn calories and interval training is the key.

3. Variety – The biological law of accommodation. This law states that the body’s response to a constant stimulus decreases over time. I never knew they had a technical name for boredom. If you have exercised for any length of time, then you have plateaued in your training routines. The body and the mind is a magnificent combination and allows you to adapt to the stimuli. Some exercise programs get around this by using muscle confusion. Basically the types of exercises you do vary. This law is relevant in every part of your life. If you haven’t had a New York Strip steak in a long time and you love steak, when you finally have one, it tastes great. If you have one every day for dinner this month, then you’re bored and not great anymore. The same goes for exercise routines.

Ross combines different maximum intensity exercises and timed relaxation between sets. He remembers that the goal of his training is to maximize work output in the shortest possible time.

Basically, this is the holy grail of exercise because you can combine your results in less time. If you’ve seen any of my roundups, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of compounding effects and time preservation.

The clip I’m going to show you is an advanced clip, so don’t be discouraged if you can’t do it. I bet 98% of the population, including me, can’t do these things, but it’s a great goal to live for.

Full Throttle Conditioning is a great program that allows you to step up your exercise game. One thing that research shows is that your GH (growth hormone) increases naturally using interval training. This is the key to staying young. As GH depletes over time, you lose energy and zest for life. Interval training will help you increase your energy in the long run.

I hope you found this short summary video helpful. The key to any new idea is to work it into your daily routine until it becomes a habit. Habits are formed in as little as 21 days.

One thing you can take away from this book is jump rope. I know this sounds basic, but a lot of people don’t like to run. Jumping rope with intensity will trigger fat burning and develop all three energy systems. Try it as part of your exercise routine for a month and record your progress. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the results.
