What is an AMRAP training? Burn fat and build muscle fast

So what is AMRAP? It is a term and style of training that has become popular among crossfit enthusiasts. It means as many rounds (or sometimes reps) as possible. The workouts are structured where you have a set amount of time to do as many exercises as you can. Most AMRAP workouts last around twenty minutes, but you will find some 10, 15, 30 minute, or other length variations for the workout. Most trainers feel that AMRAP workouts are the best fat burning workouts you can do!

A good example of a beginner AMRAP circuit workout would be a 6 minute time frame. Perform 5 deadlifts, 10 pull-ups, and 20 double unders (double unders mean swinging the rope a little higher than normal while swinging the rope under your feet twice). Perform as many rounds of this routine as you can in a 6-minute time period. AMARAP workouts can vary greatly. It’s really not so much about the individual exercises as it is about the sequence, duration, and combination of all the exercises in the routine. As you get better, you can even start customizing your own AMRAP workouts. Incorporate all muscle groups for an intense workout that will leave you exhausted by the time you’re done!

Incorporating AMRAP or HIIT workouts into your routine is a great way to mix it up and challenge your muscles to grow in a new way! Don’t think you can turn your current workout into a fat-burning AMRAP routine just like that. You will most likely need to reduce the number of weights you would normally use. Remember that the concept of high intensity, low rest period is the goal rather than focusing on the amount of weight you are moving. Take a standard bicep curl, for example. You may be able to lift a 20 pound dumbbell, however if you are doing bicep curls in an AMRAP workout, you will want to reduce that weight significantly so that you can perform more to failure.
