Social/economic contradictions are different from all others in nature that apply to humans, and therefore describe specific qualities of social/interest groups/social classes, and resolution would lie within human social structures. For any unknown socioeconomic contradiction, the spontaneous antagonistic resolution would be with loss of value and resources.
If the contradictions are known, the resolution can be done before reaching the antagonistic stages. Therefore, it can be affirmed that the efficient leaders of society must know and resolve the contradictions as they find available solutions, avoiding antagonistic stages or social conflicts.
The study of the contradictions in Socialism or in any society has an importance beyond the theoretical aspect. The very practical/pragmatic aspect would be the optimization of social relations between classes/interest groups and the correct allocation of resources to society as a whole.
Media manipulation is what governments do at the time to postpone the antagonistic stage until the facts that underline it help to reach a peaceful resolution.
The antagonist stage of contradictions
“In everything there is contradiction between its new and old aspects, and this gives rise to a series of struggles with many comings and goings. As a result of these struggles, the new aspect changes from being lesser to being greater and rises to predominance, while the old aspect changes from being greater to being less and is gradually extinguished. And the moment the new aspect gains dominance over the old, the old thing qualitatively changes into a new thing. It can thus be seen that the nature of a the thing is mainly determined by the main aspect of the contradiction, the aspect that has gained dominance. When the main aspect that has gained dominance changes, the nature of a thing changes accordingly.” (Mao)
In December 1989, the contradiction between Ceausescu’s rhetoric and the hunger of the Romanian population became antagonistic and was resolved with a popular uprising.
