Travel to Kuwait

Kuwait is one of the countries in the Middle East, with a well-developed oil-based economy and many tourist attractions. Ancient forts, mosques, maddrassahs and monuments are combined with the modern comforts of a modern Arab country. Kuwait is one of the oldest areas of human settlement. Archaeologists have found several places where ancient people lived, starting from the 5th century BC. C. Here were the cities of the Sumerians, Babylonians, Persians and Greeks. Ancient trade routes passed through this territory and unique ancient cultures developed here. According to some historical materials, the country was not always as dry and deserted as it is today.

Kuwait City is the only major city in the country. The old fortress, which once served as a refuge for merchants and Bedouins, became a major commercial, cultural and entertainment center in the region in about fifty years. The city itself is a colorful mix of ancient Islamic traditions and avant-garde architecture, and its attractions are mostly young.

Tourists find it interesting to visit the National Museum of Kuwait, famous for its collection of archaeological and ethnographic items, which is considered one of the best collections of Islamic art in the world. No less interesting are the Tareg-Rajab private museum, the Museum of Islamic Art, the Bedouin Museum and Cultural Foundation, the Al-Khalifa Mosque, the huge Great Mosque with a 74-meter-high minaret, the Ibn-Ibn Mosque. Hammes, the famous Kuwait Towers with their sky-pointing spiers and observation decks overlooking the city. One of the most popular places is the Emir’s palace called Old Seif Palace. Of special interest are such important places as the Stock Exchange building, the British Council library on Al Arabi Street, the Central Bank building, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other administrative offices.

The Kuwait Tower, known as the Liberation Tower, is the tallest in the Middle East. The Beit Lothan cultural center, the Al Kurayn museum and memorial honoring the Kuwaiti resistance fighters, the Research Center on Gulf Road with the largest aquarium in the Middle East, the Natural History and Science Museum and the Maritime Museum attract to thousands of tourists. who want to get acquainted with the culture of Kuwait and learn more about the different periods of their life.

To the southwest of the Safat region is Kuwait University and its campuses, as well as one of the country’s main industrial areas. The Salmiya district is a residential and commercial center of the capital. Many houses have been converted into shops and restaurants here, and all the streets are full of life. This part of the city is known for its noisy markets and multinational restaurants, where everything we have on this planet can be bought and sold. Here you can also go to sea with a team of pearl diggers to watch their work and participate in pearl collecting. Further along the coast stretches a whole series of beaches, considered to be some of the largest and most beautiful in Kuwait. They are famous for their relaxed atmosphere and noticeably greener than the rest of the coasts and stretch from the Al-Bidaa district to the Kuwait Towers. Nearby is the famous Kuwait Track, one of the largest tracks in the Middle East. The Musical Fountain is located within the ‘green belt’ of the capital. In the Al-Shukh district, there is the Tourist Garden, famous for its green spaces, a large number of recreational facilities and a Roman-style amphitheater.

Failaka Island has been inhabited since the Stone Age, and is now known for an archaeological park, ancient temples, and numerous excavation sites. Due to the new discoveries of the ruins of the Portuguese and British forts, the island has been reestablished again as the main attraction of Kuwait.

The city of Al-Ahmadi was built in the middle of the 20th century and was named after Sheikh Ahmad. It is known for the huge Exhibition Center, an oil industry museum and a small green park in the desert sands.
