Paris Hilton or Hilton in Paris: Keyword Research with Pitfalls and Opportunities

When you’re looking for a keyword tool to find the most useful keywords for your website, you need to know exactly what’s behind the high frequency of a specific keyword.

A few years ago I was researching important keywords linked to Paris (in Europe, the city of cities): To my surprise, there was a very high demand for something I understood to be Hilton hotels in Paris because ‘paris hilton’ had an amazing score high among other keywords about Paris. As you know, it was my limited knowledge of one of the biggest female celebrities of our time, Paris Hilton, that was behind my big mistake.

A Google search for ‘paris hilton’ will find many websites about this attractive celebrity Paris Hilton: informational websites, video websites, fan websites, and ‘fake’ websites.

On the other hand, ‘hilton paris’ will take you, among other websites, to the ‘official’ website for Hilton Hotels Paris at http://www.hilton.com and [http://www.hilton-paris.com]

The famous Paris Hilton’s connection to Hilton hotels is not just one aspect of my limited orientation towards young girls. As can be read on Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Hilton Paris Hilton is part of the Hilton dynasty and heiress to the Hilton Hotel fortune.

Another celebrity that often tops keyword lists is Britney Spears, but since I haven’t had the need to search for keywords on ‘spears’ for my AZ Photos website, I haven’t run into any errors with that name!

Anyway, keyword research is a very important help for any webmaster or writer to make use of the most relevant keywords and terms to help visitors find what they need. As people’s search habits move more and more in the direction of using more words in a search, the best combination of keywords becomes more and more complicated to reveal and implement. Free lists of popular keywords and phrases from [http://lists.wordtracker.com] are a quick and easy start to supplement with the ease of http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

One of the best tools to help you find what people are searching for and how they combine words is Google’s new keyword tool tied to using AdWords for advertising campaigns, but available to all of us. An interesting function is the possibility to see the seasonality of certain keywords. Try, for example, searching for ‘easter’ and choose to show the data: ‘global search volume trends’. You will find that Easter is looked for more or less only in March during the last year.

For ezine publishers, keywords are also very useful in satisfying reader interest, as Chris Knight of Email Universe explains in this article:

These keyword tools and several others are your friends in finding your opportunities. But beware of many traps related to names of people, bands and songs, etc., as they are often very misleading in relation to specific content on your website.
