Neff induction hob review

Induction cooking is a very clean and quite clever cooking method, and many people prefer it over traditional gas cooktops because of how fast it heats up and how convenient they are to clean.

This is the technology behind induction hobs: induction hobs have a powerful electromagnet, also known as an induction coil, which is positioned just below the ceramic cooking zones. It works by completing an electrical circuit by turning on the area you wish to use and then placing a ferrous metal bottomed tray on top of it. The heat is then evenly transferred to the pan and whatever is in it.

In addition to the smart technology, many people also prefer the look of an induction cooktop. Neff induction hobs are ceramic, which means they are sleek, shiny and smooth, making them a great fit for modern, minimalist kitchens. Induction cooktops are neat and tidy, so the kitchen always looks neater.

Safety is always an issue in the kitchen, especially if you have children at home and Neff induction hobs take this into account in their design. By design, induction hobs are an almost idiot-proof solution. Some, but not all, Neff induction hobs have ‘Point & Twist’ control, which means that those particular models will only work when the magnetic central control knob is in place. This means that even if the controls are turned on accidentally, the hob will only start to heat up if a saucepan is placed on one of the zones, so it should be easier to avoid accidents in the kitchen. Point & Twist models now come with a black plastic control dial to use as a backup if you temporarily lose the stainless steel version.

Not everything is easy with an induction cooktop, especially if it’s your first time owning one. One problem you may run into is the pans you need to use on a Neff induction cooktop, or indeed any induction cooktop. An induction cooktop will ONLY work with ferrous metal pans. You may already have ferrous metal pans, but you’ll need to check them out before you start using them on an induction cooktop.

If you don’t have ferrous metal pans, don’t worry too much because they’re pretty easy to find. Neff makes a four-piece ferrous metal saucepan set for use with Neff induction cooktops, but you can get them from just about any cooktop manufacturer.

There are eleven models of induction hobs available in the Neff range, from series three to series six, and there is the option of an extra wide induction hob for those kitchens with a little more space to devote to the cooking area.

The Neff series three induction hobs are the most basic option and the standard size option measures 60cm and has four ceramic induction hob zones. Some of the features included in this particular model are electronic touch control, child safety lock, and safety cut-out facility.
