Growing Tourism Destination – Victoria Falls

The Victoria Falls, nestled between Zimbabwe and Zambia, are one of the most spectacular tourist destinations in the world. The Falls has been named one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and one can definitely see why. Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders), it is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Over the years, Vic Falls has grown in popularity, making it one of the most popular tourist destinations in Africa. Any well-traveled tourist or travel agent will tell you that a trip to Victoria Falls is an experience not to be missed.

Victoria Falls is one of the largest waterfalls in the world and is twice the height of Niagara Falls in Canada. Vic Falls, as it is commonly known, is 1,708 meters wide, which makes it the largest curtain of water in the world. With impressive drops of between 90 and 107 meters, into the raging waters of the Zambezi Gorge, Vic Falls is as powerful as it is beautiful.

The area has been remarkably preserved in its natural state, inspiring visitors from far and wide. Essentially, people make the trip for the beauty and majesty of the Falls, however while it is best known for this beauty and majesty, there are plenty of other Victoria Falls activities for those interested in visiting this world-renowned destination. .

Vic Falls is spectacular year-round; the best time to visit them will be from February to May. This is when you can witness the greatest flow of water. Be careful though: the strong flow of water means things can get a bit wet. The activities are varied in Salto de Vic and its surroundings. Activities range from romantic sunset cruises and elephant rides to more specialized fly-fishing excursions, not to mention adrenaline-pumping fun.

For the wild at heart, a 111-meter bungee jump offers a much-needed adrenaline rush. Many say whitewater rafting is an opportunity not to be missed, with Victoria Falls rated as one of the best whitewater rafting spots in the world. Body boarding on the stormy Zambezi River is also an exhilarating experience.

Another worthwhile place of interest is the Victoria Falls National Park, located in northwestern Zimbabwe. This park is notable for its tropical rainforest that grows on the spray from the falls. This rainforest is home to a variety of plant life, including ferns, palm trees, liana veins, and a host of others seen nowhere else in the region.

The surrounding towns of Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe side) and Livingstone (Zambia side) offer much of what you would expect from an internationally recognized destination: hotels, guesthouses, supermarkets, a tourist center and airports, making that the area is well equipped to handle the multitude of visitors it receives each year.

Victoria Falls, whether for its mesmerizing beauty, exciting activities, cultural experience, or simply to enjoy the tranquility of the area, is and always will be one of the most loved and cherished natural attractions that Southern Africa has to offer.
