I play a lot of hockey and have a bad back and foot pain for a number of years and after much thought I decided to go to a local chiropractor to get some relief. I talked to a neighbor who told me that he also had back problems and that he saw a chiropractor regularly. He referred me to his chiropractor and I made an appointment for an initial visit where they will run some tests and determine what kind of treatment he will need. The cost for my initial visit was $50 and the initial visit lasted about an hour.

When treatment started, my first treatment was initially a bit scary as I had never had my back broken or manipulated before. You see, you lie on a table and the chiropractor puts pressure on your spine in a quick motion that causes your back to make a popping noise, which the chiropractor said is a type of gas your body produces and the sudden popping sound is harmless. Of course, I signed the waiver you receive when you first sign up for treatment, which allows them to have no legal liability in the event of any problems or side effects. When my chiropractor was done with the treatment, he put some ice cream, which is an anti-inflammatory, on my back and I felt great after each treatment. Now I use the anti-inflammatory all the time when my back aches a bit from too much hockey or physical activity.

I ended up going to the chiropractor for around 15 treatments and felt great relief from chiropractic appointments. After each visit you feel much better as the manipulation relieves the tension in the body. The doctor also helped me with some stretching exercises for my back and showed me how to maintain my posture and good back health even by stretching in a certain way while driving my car, which also bothered me. He also suggested buying some ankle weights to help build strength for a miniscus pain I had in my right knee, which also helped a lot. Overall I had a great experience with my local chiropractor and will use him again if I have any problems in the future.
