Excellent quality video can be viewed on the monitor’s 2.4″ LCD screen. The transmission range is up to 450 feet. The camera has the ability to view images in low light conditions or in total darkness. The camera comes with a power adapter, rechargeable battery and base.The volume of the monitor can be adjusted using the up and down arrow buttons.A special feature of this video baby monitor is that it can support 3 additional cameras (4 in total) that have already been paired with the receiver.This is great if you want to monitor a second child in another room or even use another camera on the front of your house as a surveillance camera.The downside of adding additional cameras is that they are reasonably expensive, approx. 80% of the cost of the initial purchase of the system.
Audio quality:
Crisp, clear sound is what you’ll get from the Lorex LW2002W Video Baby Monitor. It has a highly sensitive microphone that allows you to hear every little sound your baby makes if you want to. If the noise in the room is below a certain level, the sound is automatically muted, then when the sound in the room (for example, a baby crying) reaches that threshold, the sound resumes. It is designed this way to avoid white noise (soft hissing), however this seems to be the most unpopular feature of the Lorex video baby monitor – many parents would prefer the sound to be always on with the volume adjustable.
Other features:
The Lorex LW 2002W Video Baby Monitor is very easy to set up, it only takes a couple of minutes. There is an “Out of Range” notification message that alerts you when you have the camera and monitor/receiver too far apart to communicate with a strong signal.
The camera image can be displayed as a split screen on your TV using picture-in-picture. This allows you to watch TV and watch your baby at the same time. The system also works with a recording device such as a DVR or VCR.
There have only been a few critical comments made about the Lorex LW2002W Digital Wireless Surveillance System when used as a video baby monitor, the main one being that you can’t have the sound on constantly, secondly you can get audio feedback if you take the laptop monitor too close to the camera, however this is standard for any audio equipment if the receiver gets too close to the source. Third, the battery life is a bit poor.
