The HTC Titan is one of the newest Windows Phones that the company has just announced for its launch in September 2011. The main features of the HTC Titan include a 4.7-inch screen, an 8 MP rear camera, a 1.3 MP front camera, a GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM and up to 16 GB of fixed storage. At 4.7 inches, the HTC Titan’s screen is the largest of any Windows phone at the time of its launch.
It’s too big?
Since the HTC Titan is the only 4.7-inch, it’s easy to assume that it’s too big a size for smartphones. Sure, it’s a killer when it comes to playing video, but a big screen – which translates to a big body – won’t exactly come in handy. And a smartphone that isn’t practical just doesn’t seem like enough. However, the HTC Titan addresses size concerns by featuring a slim form factor of just 9.9mm. So it’s big but slim, weighing just 160 grams or just over 5.5 ounces. Not bad, right? Definitely. Unless you’re someone who likes to wear skinny jeans and keep their phone in their pockets, the HTC Titan should work pretty well for you. However, the sheer size of the screen does have an advantage, aside from stellar video playback: there’s plenty of room for the on-screen keyboard, so typing is comfortable, giving you one of the best typing experiences around. so you can work on your documents and write messages with ease.
The screen
While the Titan is a big guy with a big screen, it features only 800×480 resolution for its screen. The good thing, however, is that while this resolution is still lower than what other smartphones can offer, there wasn’t much pixelation to worry about, with excellent viewing angles and bright, sharp details. No rationale was provided as to why HTC chose this type of resolution, but many people speculate that this has to do with what the OS needs for the smartphone.
construction
Whatever shortcomings the HTC Titan had for its display, many reviewers were more than willing to pass it up because the Titan’s build quality more than made up for it. The HTC Titan has a black painted metal body, with a small plastic bit at the bottom to allow the antenna to work. It was also reported that removing the case to reveal the core of the device was also quite pleasant. However, a small weakness in the construction was detected that has to do with the paint job of the Titan. Over time, it seemed like the paint would peel off, revealing the aluminum bodywork underneath.
Accessories
The HTC Titan is reported to be compatible with a range of docking accessories that will allow the smartphone to be used intelligently as an alarm clock that charges overnight.
