How to Get Real Estate Prospects – Several Great Tips for Agents and Investors

When I first entered the real estate market, I didn’t have a clear understanding of how I could develop leads, and more importantly, I never really understood its importance. Eleven years later, after going through a lot of downs, I finally got to a place where I can say I’m successful.

There was a time when I had no leads, no sales, and no profits until I understood the importance of real estate leads. I put ads in the local paper, put up a website and displayed ‘bandit posters’. Initially the bandit signals, also known as ‘traffic signals’ or ‘yard signals’, did not generate any response except for a few curious calls. Just when I had almost given up and my patience was at its limit, the bandit signals started working.

I realized that the bandit signs that actually started generating real estate leads were the ones near intersections or traffic lights. They worked because I had focused on certain key factors like placement, reach, size, and banner ad or text. You’re probably wondering why location and range are so important for bandit signals. This is why:

Location: I had placed my bandit signs near busy road junctions, traffic lights, or intersections. The reason is, when a car stops at the traffic light, people spend almost 3 minutes before the traffic light turns green. The retention value of bandit signs and advertisements is greater when the car is stationary than when it is moving.

Outreach: I hadn’t put up bandit banners all over the city, instead putting up multiple banners at strategic points.

Size: Size is extremely important because if you put up a small bandit sign, people will have to strain to read it. They will think that it is not worth the effort. There are four main sizes 6″ x 18″, 6″ x 24″, 12″ x 18″, 24″ x 36″, and I used 12″ x 18″ because it was neither too small nor too big.

Copy: What you write on the bandit sign is so important because if it’s not good enough, no one will look at it the second time. I used bold catchy slogans like SELLING A DREAM HOUSE.
