ARDHA BADDHA PADMA PASCHIMOTTANASANA – Fit and Benefits

Name: Ardha = Middle, Baddha = Padlock, Padma = Lotus, Paschima = West (lower back), Uttana = Upward, Asana = Pose.

Meaning: Halflock lotus back stretch pose. Drishti: Pada Angushta Drishti

Procedure: Sit on 1/3 of the mat with your knees straight. Now follow the instructions;

Inhale, grasp the big toe of the right foot.

Exhale, place your right foot on the inner surface of your left thigh.

Inhale, bring your right arm behind your back, and grasp the big toe of your right foot.

Exhale, grab the big toe of the left foot with your left hand.

Inhale keeping your left leg on the floor, stretch your head and chest.

Exhale, place your chin on your left knee or left shin. (FINAL POSITION)

Inhale, lift your head and chest.

Exhale, release your big toe, and unfold your right leg.

Repeat on the other side.

ADJUSTMENTS AND CORRECTIONS:
