8 Smart Approaches to Crack CAT in Three Months!

Common Admission Test (CAT) is considered as one of the most difficult exams in our India. Many students prepare for years together to do well in CAT. Because a good CAT percentile is the key to unlocking the doors of IIMs, prestigious Indian institutions and other prominent business schools. This year, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Calcutta decided to take the exam on November 25, 2018. Therefore, there were approximately 3 months left for the exam. If you’ve filled out the CAT exam form but haven’t started your preparation yet, you’re panicking at the same time seeing other applicants who are working really hard for the exam since the beginning of the year. Then please calm down!! You still have time to prepare well for the exam and get a good percentile in CAT to get to a good MBA university. Just prepare a good strategy considering the following points and work accordingly.

1. Gather all important materials needed for preparation.

Divide your preparation into 3 parts i.e. Basic, Intensive and Mock tests. First of all, please read the books/materials (according to your syllabus) carefully to make your concept clear. Once you understand the basics, try to solve the difficult level questions. Then go to the series of simulated tests. So collect your materials accordingly. Don’t forget to collect and practice quizzes from previous years.

2. Every day counts, so be consistent

Keep a calendar on your study table and mark each day that passes so you know how much less time is left for the exam. You should know that you don’t have a single day to waste on unproductive things. If you keep taking breaks, you will surely lose your study rhythm instead of speeding it up. Make a date-wise routine and finish your tasks accordingly.

3. Concentration and time management-

Concentration is a very important factor to succeed in any exam. Especially working people who cannot spend most of their time studying should be more focused. They should study 2-4 hours on weekdays and 7-8 hours on weekends with full concentration. Every aspirant should get in the habit of studying for 2 to 2.5 hours with full concentration, then take a break for 5 to 10 minutes and sit back for another 1 to 2 hours to study.

4. Improve your vocabulary and the ability to solve numerical facts.

In the CAT exam, more importance is given to vocabulary and the ability to solve logical and numerical data. If you are strong in all of these things, then the outcome may be in your favor. So, beware of this and prepare accordingly.

5. Know your strengths-

One does not need to be equally strong in all subjects. So learn to play to your strengths. Try more questions from the segment in which you are strong.

7. Cultivate quick thinking ability-

Try to solve a problem in many different ways. Try to master the screaming cuts. It helps you cultivate a quick-thinking ability, and as a result, you can attempt more questions accurately in the exam.

8. Do mock tests-

Initially, your scores may be pathetic, but don’t panic. Keep practicing series of tests. The most important thing to do after taking each test series is to analyze the question patterns and your performance, identify your strengths and weaknesses.

Be confident, never give up and always stay motivated.
