What is chemical grounding and the basics of lightning rods?

Grounding is an essential part of any electrical system, as it ensures that fault current does not cause damage to electrical appliances or, even worse, electrocution. There are different types of grounding; conventional grounding and chemical grounding. Conventional grounding is the old grounding method. With the invention of chemical grounding, the grounding process has become more advanced and efficient. Chemical grounding, which is also known as gel grounding, is more reliable and completely unobtrusive. It can be used effectively at home and in industries.

Grounding is vital anywhere there is electricity. Its main function is to eliminate the electrolytic action of any dynamic or electrostatic discharge that may damage sensitive or electrical devices that use electricity.

THE ADVANTAGES AND BENEFITS OF CHEMICAL GROUNDING

Chemical or gel grounding is more advanced than conventional grounding. It has the following advantages when used:

– It is long lasting. Once installed, it can fulfill its function for more than 30 years.

– Since it is long-lasting, once installed you will not have to worry about electrical breakdowns or budget for them again. You spend money once on it and forget about it for a long time. Isn’t that cheap?

– It has no maintenance cost.

– It is also friendly to the environment and the environment.

– It is absolutely safe to be used in homes, offices and industries. In fact, it can be used to protect both people and electrical appliances.

– They are economical in terms of the amount of space they occupy.

CHEMICAL EARTHING ELECTRODES

There are several types of chemical grounding electrodes that are used in different appliances and for different purposes. Each one is custom built to ensure it works well wherever it is used. These include:

– Galvanized iron (GI) grounding electrode: commonly used for CNC and PLC machinery. It is designed in a way that it is highly galvanized, has high conductivity and is resistant to corrosion.

– Copper electrode: These are preferred for most types of grounding because they have a high fault current carrying capacity which ensures all fault current is cleared. In fact, they ensure that if any appliance, whether industrial or domestic, is safe from conducting a fault current even if it has some conductive parts exposed to this current. They are also good at conducting heat and are resistant to corrosion.

– Electrodes with copper bonds: this type has a uniform coating that has made it more stable in its performance. They are highly resistant to corrosion and can last longer in any type of soil. It is also strong and unbreakable. It comes in a variety of sizes that suits the various demands of the customers.

– Copper bonded rods: There are different varieties; threaded, non-threaded, one threaded side the other pointed, or made according to the client’s desire (custom). They have been galvanized and are long lasting. They can be used to ensure that the fault current does not damage any electrical appliance.

LIGHTNING ROD

Lightning can be destructive to both humans and other electrical appliances. When lightning strikes and causes the abrupt shutdown of appliances, a transient overvoltage occurs.

Lightning rods can avoid this problem by transmitting the lightning current to the ground and ensuring the safety of the whole house. ESE lightning rods are specially designed to withstand all kinds of weather conditions, they are strong, resistant to corrosion and have technology that allows them to counteract lightning. They do not need external power for their operation and are equipped with grounding technology. They are easy to install and are fully compliant with industry standards. You don’t have to live in fear every time lightning strikes, because they are profitable.
