Learn about the different types of bleachers

The stands are not just for sitting. The best sports moments have been acclaimed, revered and idolized from the stands and grandstands. Having quality stadium seats is essential to creating a world-class sports arena. Aluminum bleachers provide you with the safety, high quality, and durability that are crucial to ensuring your sports fans enjoy a game or event the way it was meant to be enjoyed – safely!

Know your bleacher options!

  • Tip and roll: Indoor basketball tournaments are great for raising funds for your school or indoor recreational facility, and it’s even better when more participants and spectators turn up than expected! It’s always a good idea to make sure you have extra seats on hand for this type of situation! Portable bleachers are perfect for your temporary seating needs and allow you to move from one event to the next with ease! Tip N’ Roll stands easily lean on casters or attached casters for movement, while caster locks prevent the stand from rolling while in storage. They also have non-marring foot pads that run the depth of the tier on both sides of the frame that protect hardwood floors when in use. Tip N’ Roll portable bleachers are constructed with an aluminum frame to reduce weight and make lifting easier. The wheels are not made for all terrains, so Tip N’ Roll bleachers should be used indoors. They require a trained adult to ensure the stands move safely, and larger units require more than one person to transport.
  • Not raised: A non-raised bleacher is a basic seating system with a first seat height of 16 inches. When you sit in the front row, your feet are level with the ground, so you don’t need extra aisles or stairs. They are an outdoor seating system that must be anchored to withstand hazardous wind conditions. These stands are available in standard, preferred, or deluxe models and may require additional options:
  1. Ground Sills: It is suggested that these 2 x 6 treated boards be attached to the bottom of each bleacher structure when placing a bleacher system on any surface other than concrete. They run the depth of the stand frame and prevent the frames from sitting on the surface.
  2. Auger Anchors – Used to anchor the bleacher frames to any non-concrete surface (asphalt, crushed gravel, soil, etc.)
  3. Concrete Anchors: Used to anchor stair frames to concrete.
  • Transportable: Non-raised transportable bleachers are designed to withstand the rigors of movement up to 5 mph, however they are not designed for use on public roads. They are beneficial for moving bleacher systems from one playing field to another within the same park or recreation area. These bleachers can be moved from one field to another depending on where the sporting event is taking place. They are equipped with a galvanized steel lifting brace and have additional bracing to stabilize the harrow during transport. All transportable bleacher units include in-ground thresholds, but they may need to be anchored to withstand dangerous winds. Each seating system includes wheel fixing brackets and horizontal lift clamps. A transport kit (which is not included with the bleacher system) is required to move the bleachers, however one kit will move multiple sets of bleachers. Transportable bleachers are available in standard, premium, or deluxe models and are the perfect solution for adding temporary seating where year-round permanent bleachers are not required. All of the above options can be made with an aluminum or galvanized steel frame. You can also choose a vertical picket or chain link railing with any option. Vertical picket railing is recommended if used by young children due to the inability to climb over the railing and less chance of children getting stuck.
  • Stadium: You’ve spent weeks preparing your soccer field for the big game. The fans start to arrive and you realize that the bosses sitting in the front row can only see the back of the champion team! Stadium bleachers are a raised seating system that provides better viewing for spectators, solving this problem. When you sit in the front row of these bleachers, your feet are level with the elevated walkway. Stadium seating systems come with a standard 36″ rise, but can be customized to meet your specific needs. These outdoor seating systems are available with or without ADA seating and are constructed with a galvanized steel frame that provides protection Y longevity.
