A Review of IPEVO Kaleido R7 Digital LCD Frame

If you want or are looking for a sexy, stylish, futuristic and unique digital LCD frame, look no further. The Kaleido R7, from IPEVO, is the answer to your wish. One look at this beautifully designed digital picture frame and you might think you’re looking at Apple’s next big product, the kind of product that would create a market buzz and long lines outside Apple Stores. Yes, I am SO in love with this digital picture frame. And I’m even crazier because I think it has potential for businesses that want to advertise in a medium that will draw attention to itself and this beautiful digital frame will draw attention to itself many times over.

Okay, now that I’ve got that out of the way, I have to ask, what does this digital LCD frame bring to the table? And how does it behave in terms of quality and features? After all, even Apple has made plenty of products that were, well, not Apple (yes, I made that up, sue me Apple). So, let’s move on to our review of the Kaleido R7.

This beautiful Kaleido comes with a 7” digital picture frame that has a high resolution 800×480 screen and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The display is an LED-backlit TFT LCD with a 400:1 contrast ratio. The images are sharp and clear and the brightness and tone are perfect. If you own a business, you owe it to yourself to get one of these and upload your ads and sales to it. And if you like living that modern contemporary lifestyle, you’ll also love this digital picture frame and how it would look on the end table.

Additionally, the Kaleido R7 comes with built-in IEEE 802.11b/g wireless that supports WEP, WPA, and WPA2 security models. You can even use DHCP or give it a static IP! Using the built-in wireless connection, you can display photos directly from the Internet, from sites like Flickr or Picasa, or from folders on your computer.

You can also use SD/SDHC, MMC or MS types of memory cards with the R7. Simply insert these cards into the slot and load photos into the R7’s built-in memory, or simply leave the memory card in and view images directly from it. Do you want to connect your digital camera to digital frame directly? R7 also has a USB port for that. Plug in your camera and transfer your images to internal memory or display them however you like directly from the digital camera.

A unique feature of the R7 is its rotating screen. It can be easily switched to portrait mode from the default landscape mode. Controls are placed on the base using well-placed, easy-to-use buttons.

Bottom line, this frame is sleek, sexy, does a great job on just about everything, and can’t be beat for the asking price of $150. If you get one, you won’t regret it!
