The implications of the marriage vow

Marriage is a project of faith. That is because everything in it cannot be known, seen, projected, calculated or estimated from the beginning by the people who enter it. Therefore, any man and woman who does not apply faith in marriage can have an unhappy marriage or a broken home.

Marriage is for life and to ensure that the people who contract it comply with this rule, they make a pact. Any serious agreement is accompanied by a vow or promise. The promise to become husband and wife comes through making a vow. However, there are implications of the marriage vow.

The implications of the marriage vow are:

“For the better: This implies that you will continue to love the person regardless of the promotion you receive after the wedding. It can be an academic, financial, political or spiritual promotion.”

“For the worse: things can go downhill after your wedding. It could be as bad as adultery. The vow implies that you will continue the relationship. All you need is to seek a solution through counseling and prayers.

“In the riches: this means that you cannot abandon your spouse when the riches multiply. The riches are to make the marriage sweeter and not separate the two of you.

“In poverty: You may experience a financial recession after some time in your marriage. You do not need to run with another man because your husband is financially depressed, nor should you leave him because he can no longer afford some of the luxuries he was used to before. For him husband, you do not need to hit your wife at the slightest provocation simply because she is demanding necessities at home, due to her financial recession, which she can no longer afford. Since both of you pray and trust God together, things will change.

“Sometimes the disease can attack one of the spouses. Some particularly challenging diseases that can attack a spouse are insanity, epilepsy, infertility or cancer. When this happens, it is imperative to be by your spouse’s side and don’t leave him or his.

“Until death do us part: By saying this, he implies that only death can annul a marriage covenant.
